Spring in Yokohama

Spring is a wonderful time to visit Yokohama, especially because of the stunning cherry blossoms.

Weather

  • Spring in Yokohama lasts from March to May. The peak cherry blossom season (hanami) typically occurs in late March to early April. Temperatures begin to warm, making it a comfortable time for sightseeing.

    • March: Average temperatures range from 8-15°C.

    • April: Average temperatures rise to 12-20°C.

    • May: Average temperatures become even warmer, around 16-24°C.

Activities

  • Yokohama Cherry Blossom Festival: Typically held in late March to early April, this festival celebrates the blooming of cherry blossoms with various traditional performances, food stalls, and illuminations.

  • Yokohama Flower and Greenery Festival: Held in late April at Yokohama Park and Yamashita Park. This exhibition showcases various types of flowers, especially tulips, that adorn the parks.

  • Yokohama Nanohana Festival: Typically held in mid-May, this festival showcases a beautiful expanse of golden-yellow canola flowers (nanohana). Nanohana flowers are also used to make a variety of traditional snacks.

  • Yokohama Africa Festival: Held in early April at the Red Brick Warehouse, this festival features African music, dance, and food.
